Short Ride in a Fast Machine
Saw the Portland Symphony Orchestra last night with Dena and Kate. A friend of theirs is the principle second violin, so it was awesome meeting him–really brought me back to my own ensamble days! I’m tremendously remotivated to pick up the cello again.
It’s really cool that dress rehearsals are free. What a great way to hear performances from the best seats in the house. The Merrill was nearly empty aside from some USM students and less than ten other folks, presumably friends of symphony members or classical music enthusiasts from the community who like to satisfy their interest on the cheap. I’m definitely going to keep track of when these rehearsals are taking place, and attend them as often as possible.
